Customized mounting positions (on request)

The exceptional versatility of this type of right-angle gearbox lies in the cube-shaped housing, which makes it possible to add a PTO to any face of the unit. The sole limitation of this solution is that a 1:1 ratio cannot be used because it does not allow the gears to rotate. Hence all the mounting positions shown in the next three pages dedicated to special arrangements can be implemented in reduction ratios 1:1.5 – 1:2 – 1:3 – 1:4 and in the corresponding multiplication ratios (1.5:1 – 2:1 – 3:1 – 4:1) With regard to speed multiplication ratios, we strongly recommend not exceeding input speeds of 2000 rpm in the 1.5:1 ratio; 1500 rpm in the 2:1 ratio; 1000 rpm in the 3:1 ratio, and 750 rpm in the 4:1 ratio. Due to the construction features and complexity associated with these mounting positions, delivery times may be affected by stock availability, so customers are strongly urged to contact our Production Department.

Housing for special mounting positions

For all sizes and all types of gearbox, the housing has two opposing faces with a shallow recess bearing the DZ logo and letters A, B, C, and D to identify the layout of solid or hollow PTO shafts. As already stated, letter “A” conventionally identifies the input shaft while the other letters refer to output shafts. In 3-way versions the oil filler/drain plug is located on the face opposite input flange “A”. On versions in which said flange is coupled to a PTO, e.g. versions with four or more ways, the filler/drain plug is moved to one of the remaining available faces to be agreed with the customer. The Type 42 mounting position with output shafts on faces “C” and “F” is obtained by rotating the cube by 90°on the “B – C” axis, so PTOs “A” and “F” no longer correspond to the letters on the housing. The same occurs also in Type 34, 35, 40, 41, and 51 versions where, if an output shaft is required on face “F” instead of “E” as shown in the catalogue, the unit can be simply rotated by 90° on the “B – C” axis. Also in this case the correspondence of the letters on the housing will be lost, but the symmetrical design of the unit makes it possible to use different output shafts without affecting the link with the PTO rotation directions. The same principle based on the symmetrical design can also be applied to Type 36, 37, and 43 versions if output “F” is required in place of “E”. In these latter cases the unit must be rotated by 180° on the “B – C” axis.

Thanks to its 30 year experience in the manufacture of standard and special bevel gears, DZ TRASMISSIONI is able to solve any problem connected with the power transmission of a rotary motion between two axes arranged at 90°. Since 2021 DZ has become a division of Transtecno Group, gearmotors manufacturer based in Anzola Emilia.
